Kinnevik group on the social scene
Behind Playing for Change stand Kinnevik, Korsnäs, Metro, MTG, Tele2, Transcom, and Hugo Stenbeck’s Foundation. Within the Kinnevik Group there has always been a sense of play behind all seriousness. The companies' professionalism and striving for success is rooted in playfulness, creativity and pioneering It is therefore natural for us to look at entrepreneurship and play when we now turn our attention to the social arena. We are looking for the best social entrepreneurs, in order to give them the conditions to change the world.
The Kinnevik Group, with its 75-year history of successful entrepreneurship, has knowledge that can help the non-profit sector to do an even better job at helping children and young people. In addition, we believe that supporting social entrepreneurs with breakthrough ideas that change the game plan for the social arena, will make us better businessmen and women.
Chief Operating Officer
Sara Damber is the Chief Operating Officer for Hugo Stenbeck’s Foundation and Playing for Change.
Sara is also a social entrepreneur who 19 years old, started Friends Foundation, which today is Sweden's largest organization in the fight against bullying.
Hugo Stenbeck's Foundation
Hugo Stenbeck’s Foundation accounts for the salary funding for Playing for Change’s social entrepreneurs. The Foundation has been formed in 1963 and has since supported social projects in Sweden. Chairman of the Foundation is Sophie Stenbeck, also a social entrepreneur who started the organization Remedee in Los Angeles. On the Foundation's board sits Cristina Stenbeck and Johan Stenman.
After decades of supporting well-established players, the Board decided in 2009 to have the Foundation show the same courage that has been hallmark of the family business. The Foundation is now working to support social entrepreneurs, who with entrepreneurial drive, perseverance and endurance work for social change. The focus area is children’s and young people's right to play.
