What is Playing for Change?

Sweden's best social entrepreneurs

Playing for Change supports social entrepreneurs with an innovative idea that can improve the world through play, playfulness, or by removing barriers to play.

During January and February 2009 we searched high and low for Sweden's best social entrepreneurs. The interest was enormous and almost 1900 people responded to the challenge. The selection process was virtually impossible with so many exciting, innovative, entrepreneurial individuals ready to take on the mission to change the world.

At first everyone sent in his or her pitch. Some were asked to submit more information – the business plan, describing sustainable social activities. The next step was interviews. Eventually sixteen social entrepreneurs was invited to face our jury of business entrepreneurs from the Kinnevik Group. The jury chose Sweden's eight best social entrepreneurs. Meet them here as they start bloging May 1st.

Winners receive

The eight selected social entrepreneurs receive:

  • Salaryfunding for one-three years
  • Advisor from the Kinnevik Group
  • Invitation to workshops with some of our best employees
  • Media Space
  • Mobile phone and subscription
  • National networks

The Playing for Change Incubator

The eight winners will get the chance to be a part of the Playing for Change Incubator. The incubator is not a physical space, but a context to help the social entrepreneurs change the world for children and youth.

They will receive salary funding for one-three years, but also (and perhaps most importantly) the support of some of the Kinnevik Group’s best team members. The social entrepreneurs will receive access to expertise in business development, marketing, law and communications.

In Playing for Change the voluntary sector's vision, meets business professionalism and the public sector's social responsibility. The result is a better world for children and young people – first in Sweden and then globally.
