Research on play

Common sense says playing is good for you, but its positive effects are also supported by scientific data. A person’s physiological, psychological and social development and growth is dependent on play.

Playing is fun and fundamental to children enjoying their childhood. Play keeps you healthy and happy. And recent research tells us it is a prerequisite for human development. Scientists in experimental neuroscience and biology study play from an evolutionary perspective in both humans and animals. More and more, researchers agree that play is not only about kids releasing energy and having fun, it is a central part of our neurological development – it helps build our brains!
